In 2005, after 57 years, Marita and Gayle returned to Saboba, a place of fond childhood memories. We were delighted to meet people who knew us as young girls. We were greatly honored when they called us Saboba Children, White Konkombas, and their Grand- mothers. We were inspired and awed by the medical care, given by Dr. Jean Young, and the staff. We were humbled by Joseph Wumbee’s, dedication, vision and enthusiasm for the SMC. He graciously arranged for our transportation while in the country.
We left Saboba with a passion...
A passion and renewed love for the Konkomba people;
A passion to help the Saboba Medical Centre become a stellar institution in the Northern Region of Ghana;
A passion to honor the memory of our parents, Mel and Marita McNutt, in dedicating the mechanized well in their name;
A passion to serve for the Glory of God.
